23rd July 2026
Reframe Coaching is pleased to announce that it has secured funding from
NHS England via the Gambling Harms Treatment VCSE Grant Fund, to deliver
specialist Recovery Coaching services for individuals affected by gambling-
related harm.
From 1 April 2026, NHS England took on commissioning responsibility for the
gambling-related harms treatment system in England, funded by the statutory
levy on gambling operators. This covers the full treatment pathway, from initial
referral and triage through to aftercare, with services delivered across a range
of NHS and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations.
The funding represents an important step in expanding access to Peer Support
by the modality of Recovery Coaching, for people experiencing the impact of
gambling harm.
Through the funded service, Reframe Coaching will provide one-
to-one Recovery Coaching tailored to the individual needs of every service user.
The service will support people at all stages of their recovery journey, helping
them identify their goals, develop practical strategies, strengthen resilience, and
create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
Recovery Coaching complements existing treatment and support pathways by
focusing on personal growth, accountability, and empowerment. Our
experienced Lived Experience Recovery Coaches work alongside individuals to
help them overcome barriers, improve relationships, restore financial and
emotional stability, and reconnect with what matters most to them.
We are proud to work collaboratively with other funded partners, with the aim of
breaking down barriers that may stand in the way of a smooth pathway for the
individuals we support.
Reframe Coaching will also provide Group Recovery Coaching, which can be
accessed as standalone support or alongside one-to-one Recovery Coaching.
Services are open to anyone affected by Gambling Harm, including individuals
who have been affected by someone elses’ gambling (Affected Other).
Supporting Recovery Beyond Treatment
What makes Reframe Coaching unique is that all of its Recovery Coaches bring
lived experience of gambling harm and recovery. Having faced many of the
challenges their service users face, they are uniquely placed to provide
understanding, compassion, and hope to those navigating their own recovery
journeys.
Reframe Coaching was founded by Steven and Rashael Girling, whose
personal experiences of gambling harm revealed a significant gap in support
available after formal treatment ends. While treatment is a vital step in recovery,
many individuals can find themselves facing the next stage of their journey
without ongoing support, guidance, or accountability.
Recognising the need for continued recovery-focused support, Steven and
Rashael established Reframe Coaching to ensure that people affected by
gambling harm would not have to face the challenges of rebuilding their lives
alone.
The organisation was created to provide a recovery focused space, and lived-
experience insight needed to help individuals move from treatment into
sustainable, long-term recovery.
Statement from the Interim CEO
Claire Bennett, Interim CEO of Reframe Coaching, said:
‘We are delighted to receive this NHS funding, which recognises the vital role of
recovery-focused support for people affected by gambling harm. This
investment will enable us to expand our services and reach more individuals
who are seeking to rebuild their lives.
At Reframe Coaching, we believe that recovery is possible for everyone.
Through personalised coaching, we help people identify their strengths,
overcome challenges, and move forward with confidence. We are proud to work
alongside the NHS and our partners to ensure that individuals affected by
gambling harm can access the support they deserve.’
Statement from the Co-Founders
Steven and Rashael Girling, Co-Founders of Reframe Coaching, said:
“Reframe Coaching was born from our own experiences of gambling harm and
recovery. We know first-hand that while treatment can be life-changing, the
journey does not end when treatment finishes. Too often, people are left trying
to navigate recovery on their own, facing challenges around relationships,
finances, wellbeing, and rebuilding their future without the ongoing support they
need.
We founded Reframe Coaching because we believed there should be more
help available during this critical stage of recovery. Everyone deserves the
opportunity not only to review their relationship with gambling but to build a
meaningful, fulfilling life beyond gambling harm.
The NHS funding is a significant milestone for the charity and, more importantly,
for the people who will benefit from these services. It will allow us to reach more
individuals, providing support from Recovery Coaches who truly understand the
recovery journey and can help people move forward with confidence, purpose,
and hope.”
