Open Letter from our Founders.

Dear all,

Last night, we had the privilege of attending the annual Charity Times Awards, where Reframe Coaching was shortlisted for Charity of the Year (turnover under £1m) and Steve was shortlisted for Supporting Leader of the Year.

We didn’t come home with an award but we did come home incredibly proud.

Proud of how far Reframe Coaching has come. Proud of the people who have helped us get here. And, perhaps most importantly, proud of what we were there representing.

When we founded Reframe Coaching in 2020, the idea was actually quite simple. We believed that recovery didn’t end when treatment ended. We wanted people affected by gambling harm to have access to ongoing support that helped them move forward with their lives. Allowing people to have access to support built around the individual, their strengths, their goals and their own pathway through recovery.

Recovery Coaching was at the heart of that vision.

Since then, Reframe Coaching has grown beyond anything we could have imagined in those early days. It hasn’t always been easy. At times, we have had to push against the tide, challenge established ways of thinking and continue advocating for the importance of ongoing recovery support.

But we have kept moving forward (in true Coaching style) and none of that has happened because of the two of us alone.

So this letter is really just to say thank you.

To our staff, who bring their commitment, compassion and belief in what we do every single day.

To our incredible network of freelance Recovery Coaches, who use their lived experience, skills and understanding to walk alongside people as they build their lives in recovery.

To our partners, treatment providers and commissioners who have trusted us, worked alongside us and recognised the value of Recovery Coaching.

To everyone across the wider gambling harms and recovery sector who has supported, challenged, encouraged and collaborated with us.

And most importantly, to every person who has trusted Reframe Coaching to be part of their recovery. You are the reason we exist.

Last night, although our names and Reframe Coaching were on the shortlist, we felt we were representing something much bigger.

We were representing the wider treatment and recovery landscape.

We were representing Lived Experience Recovery Organisations.

We were representing the value of lived experience, peer-led support and the belief that people deserve support not simply in relation to theirs or their loved ones gambling, but to build meaningful and fulfilling lives beyond it.

Being recognised alongside some incredible charities and leaders was a moment we will remember for a long time. But recognition was never the destination, there is still so much more to do. Our focus now is to keep moving forward and making ongoing recovery support as accessible as possible to anyone who needs it.

Six years ago, Reframe Coaching started with an idea and a belief that there was another way (a complimentary way) we could support people in recovery. Today, it is a community of people making that belief a reality every day.For that, we will always be grateful.

Thank you for believing in Reframe Coaching.

Thank you for supporting us and thank you for being part of the journey.
